Some Important Information If You Are Traveling With Your Pet(s) This Summer

Are you going to be traveling with your pet(s) outside of Cincinnati this summer?

Other states have diseases that may require your pet to have extra protection. Please discuss your pet’s travel destinations so we can help you decide what extra precautions you may need to take.

Some states have a very high incidence of tick-borne diseases, such as Lyme disease. Illinois has had a recent outbreak of canine influenza. We do offer Lyme and influenza vaccines for your traveling dog. These vaccines require a booster, 2-4 weeks after the initial vaccine, so you may want to get started with the series sooner rather than later.

Does your pet get carsick? We offer a prescription medication that is wonderful for pets that get nauseous on car rides.

Microchipping your pet is always a good idea, but it is especially important if your pet travels with you. We offer HomeAgain microchips. We can microchip your pet during a technician appointment, so no office visit will be charged. You will only pay for the microchip, which includes the first year’s registration fee.

Never leave your pet in a hot car, even for a very short time. On an 85-degree day, the temperature inside of a car with the windows cracked can reach 110 degrees in 10 minutes, which can be deadly.

Have a safe and fun summer with your furry family members!
