Beechmont Pet Hospital DentalDental disease in pets is often “out of sight, out of mind.” We usually don’t know there is a problem brewing until our pet displays drooling, foul-smelling breath, or difficulty eating. An important part of your pet’s annual exam is to evaluate the mouth for signs of periodontal disease, tooth root resorbtion, and other anomalies which might lead to oral infections, pain, and premature loss of teeth. It is also important to realize that infections of the mouth are not always confined to the oral cavity, and may lead to systemic infections involving the kidneys, heart, or liver. Our Veterinarians may recommend periodic dental prophylaxis to nip these problems in the bud. Our hospital maintains a sophisticated dental suite to address these needs.
